Pasay LGU collects 23.2 tons of garbage in Manila Bay cleanup drive
The Pasay City government said it collected a total of 23.2 tons, or 23,203 kilos, of garbage during a week-long cleanup drive in Manila Bay.

Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano said personnel from the city government, together with the SM Smart City Infrastructure Development Corporation (SM SCIDC), the Pasay Libertad Anglers Association (PLAA), and other private partners, joined the garbage collection from Aug. 7 to 15.
According to Rubiano, the following were the collected garbage in one week:
Aug. 7 – 1,748 kilograms
Aug. 8 – 2,509 kilograms
Aug. 11 – 3,533 kilograms
Aug. 12 – 2,856 kilograms
Aug. 13 – 364 kilograms
Aug. 14 – 3,978 kilograms
Aug. 15 – 4,938 kilograms
She said the cleanup was conducted along the Libertad Channel and nearby shores of Manila Bay as part of efforts to address flooding in Metro Manila.
Rubiano added that the initiative also supports President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s call for local government units to take active measures in tackling the widespread flooding problem.
The mayor said the city government, in partnership with private organizations, carried out the extensive operation to remove waste that blocks waterways and to safeguard public health from toxic substances and hazards.
