BACOLOD CITY – This highly-urbanized city has urged Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon to establish a satellite office of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) here that would process essential documents such as the Certificate of Public Convenience (CPC).

During a meeting with Councilor Wilson Gamboa Jr., chairperson of the Committee on Human Rights, History, and Veterans Affairs, drivers and operators of public utility vehicles (PUVs) expressed difficulties in traveling to Iloilo City where the office is located.
Gamboa formalized their appeal issued in a resolution that emphasized the LTFRB’s mandate to regulate and oversee public land transportation, including the issuance of CPCs to ensure operators meet route, safety, and service standards.
He emphasized the need for local LTFRB presence, saying that the lack of an office here places an undue burden on the transport sector.
“This request is made without prejudice to any future plans of establishing a regional LTFRB office in the Negros Island Region (NIR),” he clarified, adding that the current appeal is solely for a satellite office here.
Gamboa added that such a facility would not only benefit the people here but also serve neighboring cities and municipalities in Negros Occidental.
Bringing LTFRB services closer to the people, Gamboa said, would enhance efficiency and accessibility, especially for PUV drivers and operators here.
The city government made a similar request to the LTFRB national office in 2023 advocating the same purpose.
