BACOLOD CITY – The decomposing body of a suspected “salvage” or summary execution victim was discovered on Thursday morning, Aug. 14, on a river in Barangay Sag-ang, La Castellana, Negros Occidental, after three bodies were discovered in Talisay City on Monday, Aug. 11.
Police said the body was found by a resident harvesting vegetables. The victim was wearing a blue T-shirt, gray underwear, and shorts.

Police Major Melchor Patna-an, La Castellana police chief, said no visible wounds were initially found on the body and estimated that the man may have been dead for about five days.
Patna-an noted that recent heavy rains could have swept the body downstream by strong current.
One of the three victims in Talisay City has been identified as Dodoy, 48, a resident of Barangay Estefania here.
Police Major Joeil Reclamado, head of Police Station 4, which covers Barangay Estefania, said that Dodoy survived a stabbing incident last May in the barangay and filed a frustrated murder case against his assailant.
Dodoy’s body was discovered in a sugarcane field in Hacienda San Isidro, Barangay Concepcion, on Monday afternoon.
The two other victims are still unidentified. Authorities are investigating the motive and circumstances surrounding these killings.
Due to the secluded nature of the locations, police have no closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera footage or witnesses and have yet to determine if these killings happened there or if the bodies were just dumped in the area.
Talisay City Mayor Rowena Lizares met Police Lt. Col. Alvin Chris Baybayan, Talisay City police chief, on Thursday to discuss these incidents.
“Rest assured that we are closely working with the police in order to provide a safe and secured Talisay City for all,” Lizares said in a Facebook post. She encouraged the public to immediately report any suspicious activities to the police.
A Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) met on Thursday to discuss the progress in the investigation. No specific information was revealed.
Police Col. Rainerio de Chavez, Negros Occidental police director, said coordination with local government units (LGUs) in the province continues, including discussion for the installation of more CCTV cameras to prevent similar incidents.
