NHCP honors Bulacan's role in Philippine history

“For a long time, Bulacan has not only been a silent witness to history — it has also been one of its writers”.
This was the message of National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) Chairman Dr. Regalado Trota Jose, delivered by Executive Director Carminda R. Arevalo during the commemoration of the 447th Founding Anniversary of the Province of Bulacan on Friday, Aug. 15, at The Pavilion, Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center in the City of Malolos.
The NHCP official also recognized the unparalleled contributions of Bulakenyos not only to the nation's history but also to shaping its future.
On stage, Governor Daniel R. Fernando, Vice Gov. Alexis C. Castro, and guests, along with hundreds of Bulakenyos, watched in awe as the Bulacan Cultural Dancers reenacted the historic battles of Filipino warriors for the country’s freedom from foreign invaders during the commemoration of the 447th Founding Anniversary of Bulacan, held at The Pavilion, Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center in the City of Malolos on Friday, Aug. 15, 2025. “Tunay pong napakatayog ng pamantayan na iniwan sa atin ng mga nauna sa atin. Tayo ay nagagalak dahil ang hamong ito ay masigasig na tinutugunan ng Pamahalaang Panlalawigan ng Bulacan (The standard that our predecessors left us is truly sky-high. We are glad that this challenge is being enthusiastically addressed by the Provincial Government of Bulacan)," Arevalo added.
Likewise, Governor Daniel R. Fernando said that history is not just the past — it serves as a guide for the present and a light for the future.
“Dapat ipagpatuloy ng mga susunod na henerasyon ang pag-alaala sa anibersaryo ng pagkakatatag ng Lalawigan ng Bulacan. Magtulong-tulong tayo upang hindi masayang ang lahat ng ipinaglaban ng ating mga ninuno,” (Future generations must continue commemorating the anniversary of Bulacan's founding. Let us work together to ensure that everything our ancestors fought for will not be in vain)," the governor said.
After the commemorative program, Fernando, together with Vice Gov. Alexis C. Castro and other local officials, attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony and blessing of the Bulacan Capitol Hostel beside The Pavilion.
The commemoration of the Bulacan's founding anniversary marks the beginning of the Singkaban Festival 2025, themed “Sining at Kalinangan ng Bulacan, Pamanang Babalik-balikan.”
