NHA, Valenzuela LGU extend P15.2-M aid to typhoon-hit families
Over 1,500 families whose homes were damaged by recent typhoons received financial assistance from the National Housing Authority (NHA) and the Valenzuela City government on Friday, August 15.
The distribution is part of the Emergency Housing Assistance Program (EHAP), which granted P10,000 each to 1,521 pre-assessed beneficiaries identified by the City Social Welfare and Development Office.

The P15.2-million aid package aims to help residents repair or rebuild their houses after typhoons "Crising," "Dante," and "Emong," as well as the enhanced habagat, hit the city last July.
NHA General Manager Joeben Tai said the assistance reflects the national government’s commitment to helping survivors of calamities.
“Bilang tugon sa kautusan ng Pangulong Bongbong Marcos na tulungan ang lahat ng mga biktima ng bagyo, narito po kami ngayon para bigyan kayo ng tulong pinansiyal. Sana ay makatulong ito sa inyong unti-unting pagbangon (In response to President Bongbong Marcos' order to assist all typhoon victims, we are here today to provide you with financial assistance. We hope this will help you gradually recover),” Tai told the beneficiaries.
Mayor Weslie “Wes” Gatchalian stressed the urgency of flood mitigation in the city.
“Labindalawang barangay po ang naapektuhan ng matinding pagbaha at umabot sa higit sampung libo ang nag-evacuate. Natutuwa po ako sa tulong na ito, at patuloy rin ang ating Oplan Linis Ganda para mabawasan ang pagbaha (Twelve barangays were affected by severe flooding and more than 10,000 people evacuated. I am happy with this assistance, and our Oplan Linis Ganda is also continuing to reduce flooding),” he said, urging residents to help keep surroundings clean.
Also present were 1st District Representative Kenneth Gatchalian, Vice Mayor Marlon Alejandrino, Councilors Sel Sabino-Sy and Cris Feliciano-Tan, and NHA NCR North Sector Regional Manager Jovita Panopio.
City officials said the program demonstrates the strength of local and national collaboration in disaster recovery, ensuring timely relief for those most severely affected by calamities.
