Mayor Lani orders intensified anti-illegal drugs campaign in Taguig City

Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayetano ordered an aggressive and sustained anti-illegal drugs operations in the city even as she commended the police for the series of arrests of suspected illegal drugs peddlers during several buy-bust operations.
“These are not minor arrests. These are high-value drug personalities who have been preying on our communities. I thank the Philippine National Police, especially the Southern Police District and the Taguig City Police, for their swift action and dedication,” said Cayetano. “Illegal drugs and gambling destroy lives, tear apart families, and put our neighborhoods at risk. We will not allow that to happen in Taguig. Our police will continue aggressive enforcement, and the city will sustain mandatory random drug testing in government offices and high-risk sectors,” she added.
On Aug. 12, operatives from the Southern Police District’s Drug Enforcement Unit, in coordination with the Taguig police’s Sub-Station 6, arrested four people in a buy-bust in Barangay South Signal.

The suspects, surnamed Kamsa, Macalanga, Adil, and Ortiz, were found with 250 grams of shabu worth P1.7 million.
Last Aug. 8, police in Barangay Lower Bicutan seized P1.36 million worth of shabu from three suspects surnamed Pagkilalawan, Sasil, and Gellie.
The Taguig police’s Drug Enforcement Unit arrested two drug suspects - alias Rey, 26, and alias Jeremie, 33 - in a buy-bust operation conducted in Barangay Pinagsama, Taguig on Aug. 13.
During the operation, undercover operatives seized six plastic sachets containing shabu, weighing around 31.1 grams, and valued at P211,480.

They also confiscated a P100 bill used as the buy-bust money and two coin purses.
The suspects were brought to the police station for documentation. They will face a complaint for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
