Marcos turns over P37-M equipment for farmers, fisherfolks in Iloilo

ILOILO CITY — President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. distributed more than P37-million equipment for farmers and fisherfolks in Iloilo.

Marcos was accompanied by DA Secretary Francisco “Kiko” Tiu Laurel Jr. in the distribution during the inauguration of the Iloilo Fish Port Complex (IFPC) this week.
Farmers received forage chopper, corn sheller, corn miller, hammer mill, rice combine harvester, four-wheel drive tractor, precision seeder, and village type rice mill.
DA-6 Regional Director Dennis Arpia said the farm equipment came from the regional office and the Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization.
Fishermen received P481,000 worth of fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP) boats with marine engines and underwater fittings from the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR).
BFAR-6 Regional Director Remia Aparri said beneficiaries were the Northern Binon-an Fisherfolk Association and Southern Binon-an Fisherfolk Association in Batad town, Iloilo province.
The Philippine Crop Insurance Corp. (PCIC) distributed indemnity checks totaling P96,446 to nine farmers affected by stormy weather and infestation.
Also present were DA Undersecretary for Fisheries Drusila Esther E. Bayate and Atty. Glen A. Pangapalan, general manager of the DA Philippine Fisheries Development Authority (PFDA).
