Man stabs mother with cockfighting gaff in Leyte

TACLOBAN CITY – A 44-year-old housewife was allegedly stabbed and injured by her son with a cockfighting blade or gaff on Thursday, Aug. 14, in Barangay Balagtas, Matag-ob, Leyte.

Police identified the victim as Mary.

Initial investigation said that the suspect, Brian, 19, arrived at their residence drunk.

He searched for the key to his motorcycle but could not find it and vented his ire on his mother.

A heated argument erupted where the suspect took the blade and stabbed her in the neck.

The victim attempted to block another attack with her hands but sustained a stab wound in her right hand.

The suspect fled with the bladed weapon.

The incident was reported to authorities who found her bloodied and injured.

Shem was taken to the Ormoc District Hospital.

Police are conducting follow-up investigation and manhunt operation.
