Man holds own daughter hostage in Zamboanga City

ZAMBOANGA CITY - A 32-year-old man was arrested after taking his own daughter hostage here last Thursday, Aug. 14.
Carlito, the live-in partner of the child's mother, Roselle, reportedly went into a violent rage at around 4:50 a.m.
The suspect smashed a window inside their house and brandished a shard of glass, threatening the life of his young daughter, Kylie.
Roselle shouted for assistance as Carlito fled their residence with Kylie. Her cousin alerted barangay officials, who, along with police, launched a hot-pursuit operation.
The suspect was located hiding inside a nearby store, still holding his child and the shard of glass.
Carlito released Kylie after authorities arrived and was taken into custody without further incident.
The child was unharmed.
Carlito is in the custody of the Zamboanga City Police Station 6 for further investigation and proper legal proceedings.
Authorities are conducting follow-up investigation.
