However, her valiant effort proved futile when she, along with her seven offspring, failed to get out, and consumed by the raging fire.
Police said the blaze on Thursday, Aug. 14, started in the stock room of the house in Purok 2, Barangay San Geronimo, due to an overheated electric fan.
Lea Nicole, 29, daughter of the house owner, said she smelled burning tire and saw flames coming out from the stock room before the fire.
The house owner crawled to rescue the canines but was only able to retrieve the mother because of the smoke and raging flames.
The dog suddenly jumped out of the house owner’s arms and dashed inside. However, she failed to get out, and died with her puppies.
Firemen attempted to rescue the dogs but failed as the fire was too big and the house in danger of collapsing.
Firemen lamented the lack of empathy of people in the area who just took videos and stood as the fire raged.
Arson investigators have yet to determine damage to property.
They reminded people to always unplug and check appliances when not in use to prevent fires.
