- The actress finally confirmed what many knew all along.
In what might just be the slowest celebrity breakup reveal in Philippine showbiz history, Liza Soberano has finally confirmed that she and Enrique Gil have not been together -- and for almost three years now.
She dropped the big but belated reveal, August 14, on the Can I Come In? podcast of filmmaker Sarah Bahbah.
She did so as if she were simply admitting she’d left her umbrella at someone’s house.
“I’ve been itching to tell people this because I haven’t been very truthful. Quen hasn’t been very truthful. Quen and I broke up,” she said.
So why the long wait?
According to Liza, Enrique asked her not to announce it, and she agreed — partly because saying it aloud would make it "real," and partly because she feared it might hurt her career.
She described the breakup as “beautiful” and “full of love” — the kind of line that sounds sweet until you remember it’s now the postscript to an epic on-screen romance.
“It was so hard for me to actually break up with him because I love him. I still love him as a person,” she added, emphasizing there was no drama or betrayal — just two people quietly ending a relationship… and then quietly not telling anyone.
Enrique Gil, for his part, has yet to comment.
But some fans aren't keen on staying mum. Here are some comments:
“Three years? Girl, I could’ve gotten a degree in that time. Disappointed...”
“Binago ko mundo ko dahil sa LizQuen. Ngayon ito na. Bakit?"
“Ginawa ninyo kaming tanga."
