'Habagat', easterlies to prevail over the Philippines from August 15 to 22
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the southwest monsoon, or “habagat,” and easterly winds will be the dominant weather systems affecting the country from Aug. 15 to 22, based on the latest weather outlook.
From Aug. 15 to 16, PAGASA said the habagat is expected to bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol Region, Visayas, and the western section of Mindanao.
Meanwhile, the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
Between Aug. 17 and 20, the easterlies, or warm winds from the Pacific Ocean, will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms across the entire archipelago.
PAGASA said the habagat will return on Aug. 21-22 and bring cloudy skies and scattered rains over Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
The rest of the country may experience isolated rain showers or thunderstorms during this period.
PAGASA said the weather outlook will be updated should there be any significant changes in the forecast.
