MEET THE MINIONS Dave and Jerry bust out their moves during the Minute of Minion Mayhem show
Bello!
Minions have been a pop icon mainstay ever since they first debuted in the 2010 animated film “Despicable Me.” Some find that they have even overshadowed the main cast, taking the lead role in two spin-off films, “Minions” and “Minions: The Rise of Gru.” Their popularity continues to rise as they have taken over a portion of Universal Studios Singapore, appropriately dubbed Minion Land.
BELLO, EVERYBODY Bob and his teddy bear Tim greet guests upon entry
Minion Land is the most recent addition to the popular Sentosa Island destination. It opened its doors last February and has since been a fan-favored addition to the theme park. Guests can enjoy three distinct areas within Minion Land: Super Silly Fun Land, Gru’s Neighborhood, and Minion Marketplace.
In Gru’s Neighborhood, you can find yourself transformed into a minion on the Despicable Me Minion Mayhem ride. It’s a fun way to experience the interior of Gru’s home and lets you feel as if you’re interacting with the movie’s characters themselves. Witnessing the chaos minions bring to Gru’s laboratory is enough to elicit laughs from the entire audience. Hardcore fans of the franchise might also recognize the subtle reference to the “Minion Rush” mobile game at the start of the ride. You can also encounter Gru’s family and his minions for a meet-and-greet opportunity during the Minute of Minion Mayhem show.
TASTY TREAT Stuart's Japanese Curry Karaage
If you’re feeling hungry, you can stop by the Super Silly Fun Land to get some snacks at the Pop-A-Nana popcorn stand or try some Minion-themed food at the Super Hungry Food Stand. Stuart’s Japanese Curry Karaage is a photogenic treat and can fill you up for the day. Other attractions in this area include parlor games where you can win prizes.
Finally, the Minion Marketplace is a haven for Minion merchandise. You’ll find shirts, toys, plushies, and all sorts of Minion paraphernalia to get your fandom fix. They are separated into three sections: Sweet Surrender, Pop Store, and the Fun Store.
Of course, Minion Land is just one of the many stops you’ll find yourself visiting at Universal Studios Singapore. Aside from the “Despicable Me” franchise, you can visit other Universal-themed attractions from franchises like “The Mummy,” “Jurassic Park,” “Shrek,” “Starship Troopers,” “Transformers,” and “Sesame Street.” Each section has multiple rides, mini shows, and snack areas fitting the theme. You can skip the long queues by purchasing a Universal Express pass.
