7 hurt as SUV crashes into a school beside Caloocan hospital

Seven people, including two children, were injured when a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) crashed into the lobby of a school beside a hospital in Caloocan City on Thursday, August 14.

According to the Caloocan police, the SUV rammed through the school entrance of Manila Central University (MCU), with nearly half of the vehicle ending up inside the building before coming to a stop.
The driver, identified as Manuel Anonuevo, said he was about to pick up someone when he lost control of the vehicle while making a turn near the school lobby.
The SUV hit two children and a school employee, who were immediately treated in the nearby hospital. The conditions of the other victims have yet to be disclosed.
Caloocan City Police Station Chief Col. Joey Goforth said investigators are determining the cause of the crash, assessing the extent of the damage, and studying possible charges against the driver.
A hospital representative said an official statement will be issued after the investigation.
As of this writing, the driver will face charges for reckless imprudence resulting in damage to property and physical injuries.
