'Reply 1988' cast to reunite to mark drama's 10th anniversary
The cast of “Reply 1988,” one of the most popular Korean dramas, will be reuniting to celebrate its 10th anniversary.
“Reply 1988” premiered on tvN in South Korea in November 2015 starring Lee Hye-ri, Ryu Jun-yeol, Park Bogum, Go Kyung-pyo and Lee Dong-hwi.
Its final episode on Jan. 16, 2016 drew a nationwide rating of 18.803 percent, which currently is the sixth highest rated drama on Korean cable TV of all time.
Korean media reported that the cast of “Reply 1988” will be making a trip to Gangwon Province in South Korea in early October to film content to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the drama.
The trip will be attended by 15 people, including director Shin Won-ho and the film's main cast.
However, actor Ryu Jun-yeol, who played Kim Jung-hwan in the drama, will not be able to attend the trip.
"We understand that actor Ryu Jun-yeol is currently busy filming his next project and has no choice but to be absent," a source from the drama’s production told Korean media outlet Osen. He is currently filming the Netflix series “The Rat.”
Hyeri, who played the role of Deok-sun, and Ryu Jun-yeol became a real-life couple after the show but announced their breakup in November 2023.
Ryu Jun-yeol was embroiled in dating rumors with actress Han So-hee, which became an issue.
The trip is being organized by Eggiscoming, a content production company that includes SHin Won-ho.
The “Reply 1988” event is expected to be released first on Eggiscoming’s YouTube channel “15ya_egg.”
