The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency seized 20 kilos of suspected shabu worth P136 million and arrested a wanted drug pusher and his cohort in San Pablo City, Laguna, on Tuesday night.
In a statement on Wednesday, PDEA Director General Undersecretary Isagani Nerez said Kendayo, with a standing arrest warrant for possession of dangerous drugs, and Rene were arrested during an operation on Maharlika Highway, Barangay San Antonio II.
They were reportedly among the main supplier of illegal drugs in Metro Manila and nearby provinces.
Seized from the suspects were 20 gold packs labeled “Guanyinwang,” containing around 20 kilograms of suspected shabu worth P136 million, one Nissan Navara, one identification card, and two cellular phones.
“The operation is a product of continuous tracking of our previous operations and arrests of members of major drug trafficking organizations. PDEA will continue to pursue a sustained and relentless campaign against targeted individuals,” Nerez said.
The suspects face charges for violating Section 5 (Transportation of Dangerous Drugs) and Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs), Article II of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
If found guilty, a penalty of life imprisonment and a fine ranging from P500,000 to P10 million shall be imposed on them. (PNA)
