In a post on Facebook, the OVP said that there had been attempts to scam unsuspecting individuals by using the Vice President’s name.
“Maging mapanuri at huwag basta-basta magbigay ng inyong personal na impormasyon (Be vigilant and don’t easily give our your personal information),” the post read.
It called the messages using the OVP’s and Duterte’s name to solicit personal information in exchange of P20,000 as cash assistance are “fake news.”
“Kung may natatanggap kayong ganitong mensahe, huwag po itong sagutin o i-click ang anumang link (If you receive this kind of message, don’t reply or click any link),” the OVP said.
It asked the public to report the incident to the OVP’s official channels or to authorities.
This is not the first time the OVP’s name was used for a scam.
In December last year, the OVP made a similar call against a scam circulating on social media urging people to register for a supposed cash and gift distribution activity by Duterte.
