The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Thursday, Aug. 14 that no low-pressure area or tropical cyclone is currently affecting the country.
PAGASA weather specialist Chenel Dominguez said the southwest monsoon or “habagat” will be the dominant weather system.
Over the next 24 hours, cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms may be experienced in Metro Manila, Zambales, Bataan, Pampanga, Tarlac, Bulacan, Davao Oriental, Ilocos Region, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol Region, Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, and Caraga.
PAGASA warned of possible flash floods and landslides due to moderate to, at times, heavy rains in these areas.
Meanwhile, the rest of the country may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.
PAGASA said severe thunderstorms could also trigger flash floods or landslides.
