Farmer hacked to death during drinking spree

GUMACA, Quezon – A 54-year-old farmer was hacked to death by his companion during a drinking spree in Barangay Batong Dalig here on Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 13.
Police said victim Florante, with the suspect Manolito and three others, including a former barangay kagawad, were peacefully drinking at about 2:30 p.m. when the suspect suddenly stood and left.
Minutes later, the suspect returned and hacked Florante with a bolo at the top of his voice.
Manolito fled, leaving the victim sprawled on the ground, covered in blood, and his right hand amputated. Florante died on the spot.
Police are conducting follow-up investigation. The suspect, who brought the murder weapon along with him, faces murder charges.
