In a statement on Tuesday, Aug. 12, Babagay debunked an online article saying that he and Police Major Inar Vic Florece, Tigaon police chief, are shielding illicit gambling.
“We categorically deny these baseless allegations,” Babagay said, stressing that the PNP and Police Regional Office-5 operate with “unwavering integrity and strict adherence to the rule of law.”
He assured that the allegation will be referred to the proper office for a “thorough, impartial, and transparent investigation,” with all parties – including Florece – to be given due process.
Babagay reiterated that under his directive, PRO-5 will intensify anti-illegal gambling operations, bolster intelligence efforts, and impose stringent measures to curb all forms of illicit activities in the Bicol region.
“Any personnel found violating PNP regulations or involved in unlawful conduct will face the full force of disciplinary and legal action,” he said.
Babagay urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities through official PNP channels, assuring that the police remain committed to serving the people “with honor, justice, and excellence.”
