Palace declares September holidays in several areas for local celebrations

Malacañang has declared several special non-working days in September across provinces, cities, and regions to allow residents to take part in local festivals, founding anniversaries, and historical commemorations.

Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin signed the proclamations on behalf of President Marcos on Aug. 8 and 11.
“It is but fitting and proper that the people be given full opportunity to participate in the occasion and enjoy the celebration,” the proclamation read.
Proclamation No. 990 designates Sept. 5 as a special non-working day in General Santos City, South Cotabato, for the 27th Tuna Festival.
In Bohol, Proclamation No. 991 sets Sept. 8 as a special non-working day in the municipality of Loon for the SidlaKasilak Festival, also known as the Festival of Lights. On the same day, Proclamation No. 992 marks the 25th Founding Anniversary, or Araw ng Digos, in Digos City, Davao del Sur.
Proclamation No. 997 commemorates the 71st Founding Anniversary of Makilala, North Cotabato, also on Sept. 8.
Proclamation No. 993 declares Sept. 9 as a special non-working day in Bais City, Negros Oriental, for its 57th Charter Anniversary.
Proclamation No. 994 declares a special non-working day in Claver, Surigao del Norte, on Sept. 13, for its founding anniversary (Adlaw Nan Claver).
On the other hand, Proclamation No. 998 marks the commemoration of the Sipat in the Cordillera Administrative Region. The Sipat recalls the Sept. 13, 1986, meeting between then President Corazon Aquino and representatives of the Cordillera Bodong Administration and Cordillera People's Liberation Army to signify a cessation of hostilities and acknowledge the Cordillera’s aspirations for autonomy.
Proclamation No. 995 sets Sept. 18 as a special non-working day in Bansalan, Davao del Sur, for its 73rd Founding Anniversary.
Meanwhile, Proclamation No. 996 declares Sept. 3 as a special non-working day in Iriga City, Camarines Sur, for its 57th Charter Anniversary.
