Mamamayang Liberal (ML) Party-list Rep. Leila de Lima shared on her Facebook Wednesday Aug. 13 photos of her going to a particular fast food chain in whay appeared to be a jab at former president Rodrigo Duterte.
Known for its golden arches, the fast food joint was visited by De Lima as she sought to buy breakfast before heading to work at the House of Representatives.
"Nothing beats a j̶e̶t̶ ̶s̶k̶i̶ ̶ good breakfast bago sumabak sa trabaho sa Kongreso (Nothing beats a good breakfast before reporting for work in Congress)," the former senator wrote to go with her photo upload.
Conspicuously stricken out by De Lima from her caption was the phrase "jet ski".
It was only over the weekend when showbiz personality Vice Ganda performed a skit on the "Nothing beats a Jet2 holiday" meme by changing it to "Nothing beats a jet ski holiday".
Vice Ganda's joke was interpreted as a shot ex-president Duterte, who years ago promised to ride a jet ski all the way to the Spratly Islands to plant the Philippine flag there. Not only was this promise unfulfilled, but his eventual administration was viewed a subservient to the Chinese government particularly on the issue of the West Philippine Sea (WPS).
In case you're wondering--yes, Vice Ganda is an endorser of the fast food chain.
Duterte, 80, is currently being held at the International Criminal Court (ICC) at The Hague in the Netherlands for a charge of crimes against humanity.
There is no love lost between De Lima and Duterte. Then-senator De Lima was jailed for drug charges during the Duterte presidency. She was later exonerated.
