Manila imposes 500-meter quiet zone around San Beda, UST for 2025 bar exams
The City of Manila has ordered the enforcement of a quiet and orderly zone within a 500-meter radius of San Beda University and the University of Santo Tomas (UST), in preparation for the 2025 bar examinations on September 7, 10, and 14.
The city government said the move is intended to provide a peaceful testing environment for thousands of aspiring lawyers who are set to take the exams.

Under the directive, the sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages, the use of loud sound systems or any form of noise disturbance, and unauthorized street vending will be strictly prohibited within the identified areas on all days of the bar exams.
The restrictions will take effect from midnight of September 6 until 10 p.m. of September 7, from midnight of September 9 until 10 p.m. of September 10, and from midnight of September 13 until 10 p.m. of September 14.
City officials, in coordination with the Supreme Court and local law enforcement, emphasized the importance of maintaining a distraction-free atmosphere around the testing centers.
Both San Beda and UST are expected to serve as major testing venues, drawing examinees from around the country.
The Manila City Government is appealing to the public, particularly residents and business owners near the affected zones, to fully cooperate with the temporary regulations.
Additional announcements regarding traffic rerouting, security protocols, and public advisories are expected to be issued as the examination dates draw near.
