BUTUAN CITY – Police arrested a 40-year-old construction worker for allegedly raping a 19-year-old woman in 2024 and 2025 in Lanao del Norte.
Police Regional Office 10-Regional Public Information Office (RPIO) chief Police Major Joan G. Navarro said the suspect was tagged as the sixth most wanted person in Lanao del Norte. He was arrested on warrants of arrest for three counts of rape. No bail was set for his temporary freedom.
“The suspect was completely surprised when arresting police officers arrived somewhere in the targeted area in Lanao del Norte on Friday, Aug. 8,” Navarro said.
The suspect was the victim’s neighbor. The victim was raped in December 2024, January 2025, and February 2025.
The victim did not report the incident at first due to alleged death threats from the suspect. But she later on mustered the courage to report the abuses to authorities and formal charges were filed last March.
The suspect is under the custody of the Tubod police station in Lanao del Norte for proper disposition.
