ILOILO CITY—House Deputy Speaker and Iloilo first district Rep. Janette Loreto-Garin denied allegations that she is a “congtractor” – the portmanteau for a member of Congress and a contractor.
“Pekeng balita ang ilinalabas…Huwag natin paniwalaan ang mga pekeng balita (What was released was fake news. Let’s not easily believe in fakes news),” Garin said.
GARIN
Garin was listed as among the 14 lawmakers tagged as alleged “contractors” by the Serbisyong Pilipinas Facebook page.
The post claimed that 14 lawmakers are possibly part of the P811-billion flood control projects.
She told Bombo Radyo in an interview that the inclusion of her name in the list is a diversionary tactic to prevent the examination of the list of contractors of flood control projects that President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. wanted investigated for alleged anomalies.
“We are grateful to the initiative of the President,” Garin said.
She disclosed that House Speaker Martin Romualdez is prioritizing finding out the contractors behind substandard flood control projects.
Garin said that not all flood control projects failed as some had positive impact in curbing floods during inclement weather.
She said that an in-depth investigation is being conducted to determine which flood control projects failed and successful.
