Former teacher nabbed for molesting minor student in Marikina
A 31-year-old former teacher was arrested for allegedly committing indecent acts against his 12-year-old student in Marikina City.
The Eastern Police District (EPD) identified the suspect as “Paul,” ranked No. 7 on Marikina’s most wanted list. He was arrested in Barangay Sta. Elena on Sunday, Aug. 10, by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued by the presiding judge of the Regional Trial Court Branch 192 in Marikina City.
Authorities said the suspect’s case involves Acts of Lasciviousness under Section 5 (B) of Republic Act 7610 (Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act) in relation to Section 5 (A) of R.A. 8369 (Family Courts Act of 1997).
Based on the investigation, the suspect was a former teacher of the victim. The victim said the first incident happened in October 2023, when the suspect allegedly touched her chest during their Physical Education class at school.
The same incident reportedly occurred again in October 2024, prompting the victim to tell her mother, who immediately went to the police station to file a complaint against the suspect.
Authorities said the suspect underwent physical and medical examinations at Amang Rodriguez Memorial Medical Center before being transferred to the Marikina City Police Station, where he is currently detained.
Meanwhile, EPD District Director Brig. Gen. Aden T. Lagradante vowed that they will not stop pursuing criminals, especially those involved in violence against children.
“Naninindigan tayo na walang puwang sa Metro East ang mga nagtatago at lumalabag sa batas (We stand firm that there is no place in Metro East for those who hide and violate the law),” he stated.
