Pasay City Police chief Col. Joselito De Sesto identified the suspects as "Carl John," 24, a resident of Pandacan, Manila, and "Angelo," 22, of Sta. Cruz, Manila. They were arrested at around 9:30 p.m. at the corner of Diokno Boulevard and Bayshore Avenue, Pasay City.
Based on the investigation, the victims were walking near the south footbridge along Diokno Boulevard, Mall of Asia (MOA) Complex, Barangay 75, Zone 10, when the suspects on board their motorcycle suddenly snatched their personal belongings.
De Sesto said a security guard at MOA saw the incident and quickly called for backup using the radio. The other guards arrived and stopped the suspects from escaping, leading to their arrest.
He said the security guards handed over the arrested suspects to Pasay City Police Substation 10 after catching them.
Authorities recovered two replica firearms (pellet guns) with magazines, one hand grenade, and the Honda ADV 160 motorcycle, which was impounded from the suspects.
De Sesto said the victims executed and signed a Waiver of Non-Pursuance of Criminal Charges against the arrested suspects due to their inability to attend future legal proceedings, as they are scheduled to depart for Beijing, China.
The suspects were brought to the Investigation and Detective Management Section for detention. They were charged with robbery-snatching, illegal possession of a firearm replica under RA 10591, and illegal possession of explosives (grenade) under PD 1866, as amended by RA 9516.
