Torre: 94% of 911 calls responded within 5 minutes

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has responded to 94 percent of over 3,500 calls to 911 emergency hotline in the past two months within five minutes, the country’s top cop, Gen. Nicolas Torre III said on Monday, Aug. 12, as he showcased the quick response to President Marcos during the 124th Police Service Anniversary celebration at Camp Crame in Quezon City.
The five-minute police response was launched on the day Torre assumed the PNP’s top post on June 2 and as of Aug. 10, he said a total of 3,574 calls were received by the PNP Emergency 911 Command Center.
“Of the 3,574 calls to 911 requiring police assistance, we responded to almost 94 percent within five minutes. That is more than nine calls out of 10,” said Torre in his speech.
“The PNP is a vital lifeline in emergencies, ensuring that help reaches people at the very moment it is most urgently needed because In this fast changing world, every second matters and in the PNP every second counts,” he added.
During the celebration, Marcos visited the PNP Command Center (PCC) and was briefed on the five-minute Police Response Time system.
It was then that Torre showcased the capability of the PNP in responding to calls for assistance, starting with the call to the police force of Trece Martires City in Cavite to the police units in some parts of the country.
Torre also showed Marcos recorded videos of police units serving arrest warrants during various police operations nationwide after the demonstration of drone-assisted operations and the use of body-worn cameras (BWCs), 800 of which can stream live video.
Marcos earlier tasked the PNP to make its presence more felt on the ground.
Torre explained that the quick police response is what the people want from the PNP. He urged policemen to do their share.
“I call on every officer and personnel to continue embodying the true spirit of public service. Let us be the police force that people not only respect but truly trust,” said Torre.
