ILOILO CITY – The Philippine National Police (PNP) awarded the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) as the country’s Best City Police Office this year.
ICPO chief Police Col. Kim Legada received the award from President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and PNP chief Police Gen. Nicolas Torre III during the 124th Police Service Anniversary on Tuesday, Aug. 12, in Camp Crame in Quezon City.
“This award is a testament to the hard work, professionalism, and commitment of every member of ICPO as well as the strong partnership we share with our local government and stakeholders,” said Legada in a statement.
“We will continue to serve with honor and dedication to ensure the safety and security of our beloved Iloilo City,” added Legada.
ICPO topped Davao City Police Office and the Butuan City Police Office, both finalists in the city police category.
The Iloilo City government was awarded as Best Local Government Unit that supports the PNP in the highly urbanized city category. ICPO spokesperson Police Major Shella Mae Acanto Sangrines said the award was received by former Mayor Jerry Treñas.
Another awardee was Barangay Semirara in the island town of Caluya in Antique province – Best Barangay for Peace and Order Initiatives. The award was received by Barangay Chairperson Catherine Lim-Tahum.
The Police Regional Office-6 lauded the three national awardees from Western Visayas region.
