Lyn Javier rises to BSP deputy governor, tapped to supervise banks

Lyn I. Javier has been appointed as the new Deputy Governor of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), where she will now lead the central bank’s arm responsible for overseeing banks and other financial institutions.
Javier took her oath on Monday, Aug. 11, before BSP Governor Eli M. Remolona, officially becoming the new head of the Financial Supervision Sector (FSS). She succeeded former BSP Deputy Governor Chuchi G. Fonacier, who retired on Aug. 1, 2025.

Javier’s career at the BSP spans over two decades, starting in 1998 as a Bank Officer within the supervision sector.
She steadily rose through the ranks, eventually becoming Assistant Governor of the FSS's Policy and Specialized Supervision Sub-Sector in 2021. In that role, she oversaw the development of supervisory policy, data management, and the supervision of various financial operations, including treasury, trust, information technology, and anti-money laundering.
A certified public accountant, the new deputy governor holds a Master of Business Administration from the Ateneo de Manila University and a bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Accountancy, cum laude, from the University of the Philippines.
She has also represented the BSP in several international groups, including the Financial Reporting Standards Council, the Basel Consultative Group, the Executives’ Meeting of East Asia-Pacific Central Banks Working Group on Banking Supervision, and the Network for Greening the Financial System-Workstream on Scaling Up Green Finance.
