Housemaid nabbed for alleged kidnapping of 3-year-old child in QC

A 24-year-old housemaid was arrested for allegedly abducting her employer’s 3-year-old child and demanding P150,000 for her release in Barangay Paltok, Quezon City, on Sunday night, August 10.

The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) identified the suspect as “Joan,” a native of Northern Samar, who had been working for the family for almost two years.

According to the police, the suspect told the child’s mother she needed to get medicine from a nearby house for stomach pain and brought the child with her.

The suspect did not return home after sending a text message demanding for ransom and threatening to harm the child.

The child's parents reported the incident to the police.

At around 12:05 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 11, operatives arrested the suspect along FPJ Avenue and rescued the child.

Recovered from the suspect were a brown shoulder bag and boodle money.

The suspect is facing kidnap-for-ransom charges under Article 267 of the Revised Penal Code before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.
