“Imperfect Tense and Times,” Nicole CuUnjieng-Aboitiz’s new book, was launched at the Bombvinos Bodega on August 10, 2025, Sunday afternoon. It was literally a struggle to find space within the bar, as friends and family had trooped to the place to demonstrate their love and support for the author enthusiastically. Despite being under the weather, Nicole gamely offered a reading during the event and accomplished this with flying colors. And so, while the book is titled “Imperfect Tense,” the launch was the perfect way to announce its publication.

A collection of essays, the book is published by the Vibal Foundation. Nicole herself describes the book as a ‘critique of the elite from within… one that would be more insightful because it came from someone who understands the codes of the elite as a native member of that class.” Super proud husband, Carlos Aboitiz, and Nicole’s father, Stevie CuUnjieng, were in attendance and gamely posed for photos.
