The effort was conducted through the initiative of Mayor April Aguilar to encourage households to grow their food and embrace urban gardening.
Aguilar said the initiative supports food self-sufficiency, a healthier lifestyle, and a collective move towards a clean and greener Las Piñas.
She said the CENRO distributed fresh vegetables to Bahay Pag-asa Youth Center, a center managed by the city government that serves as a temporary shelter and rehabilitation facility to children in conflict with the law and at-risk youth.
The mayor said the CENRO distributed organic fertilizers to residents from the following areas: Barangay Talon Dos; BermuDos; da Square Subdivision; Evelyn Camus Subdivision, Pulanglupa Dos; Camella Homes 6; San Antonio Valley 7 Subdivision; Pamplona Tres; Manuela 4A; Veraville Manuela 3A; Pamplona Dos; Philamlife Village; Remarville Subdivision, and Patricia Homes Subdivision.
Aguilar said the city government, through CENRO, actively promotes urban gardening through various initiatives that include distributing organic fertilizers and fresh vegetables to encourage residents to cultivate their food at home, contributing to a healthier lifestyle and a greener city.
She said CENRO also manages and maintains the city's vertical gardens and landscaped areas, enhancing the aesthetic appeal and environmental health of the city.
