Jeepneys now allowed to transport students inside Bilibid in Muntinlupa
Jeepneys have started to transport students of public schools inside the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) Reservation in Muntinlupa on Aug. 11.
Public utility vehicles (PUVs) were allowed to go inside the NBP compound in Barangay Poblacion in an agreement by the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor), which supervises the NBP, and the Muntinlupa City government.
Under the agreement, BuCor allowed PUVs to go inside NBP from 4 a.m. to 10 p.m. There are designated pick-up and drop-off points for jeepneys inside the reservation. Drivers should also have proper attire.
Thousands of students from the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Muntinlupa (PLMun) and Muntinlupa National High School (MNHS) were affected when the gate of the South Greenheights Subdivision was closed. The gate was an alternate access for the students.
Before this, students had to alight at the main gate of NBP and take a tricycle going to PLMUN or MNHS.
Years ago, jeepneys were allowed to ply inside the NBP to transport students and residents.
PLMun has about 15,000 students while MNHS has 5,000.
