- Ford Philippines marks its official entry into the electrified vehicle space with the launch of the Territory Hybrid. With the Philippine launch serving as its global debut, the new Territory Hybrid is the latest evolution of the popular small SUV.
Hybrid powertrain
Past customers may remember the Territory as having an internal combustion engine (ICE). For this generation, however, the Territory has made the shift to a completely hybrid lineup. The change was introduced to offer a more efficient driving experience without requiring changes to daily driving behavior.
The new Territory Hybrid is powered by a 1.5-liter inline-4 dedicated hybrid engine paired with a two-speed dedicated hybrid transmission and 1.83kW Lithium-Ion NCM High Voltage Battery. The whole hybrid powertrain produces max engine power of 150-PS, max engine torque of 230-Nm, max electric power of 218-PS, and max electric torque of 315-Nm. This specialized powertrain combines all the benefits of EVs, hybrids, and even range-extended electric vehicles to return improved fuel economy and smoother torque delivery, especially in urban situations that feature stop-and-go traffic. Drivers can choose from three driving modes: Eco, Normal, and Sport, to tailor performance to road conditions or personal preference.
It's not just for efficiency. When accelerating, the Territory Hybrid can reach 100-kph from full stop in as fast as 8.5-seconds.
New look, bold design
The new Ford Territory Hybrid also boasts of a number of design improvements. The new hood and fenders design complement a redesigned front grille. LED reflector headlights with intelligent high beam system and revised daytime running lamps create a more assertive look. A full-width LED taillight bar and a restyled rear bumper complete the refreshed exterior. The Territory Hybrid is also equipped with an all-new 18- or 19-inch wheels depending on the variant.
Inside, is also a modern and polished interior. The top-of-the-line variant gets dual-tone leather seats with zest stitching and a new headrest. There’s also multi-color ambient lighting and a panoramic sunroof.
Drivers get a digital instrument cluster and touchscreen entertainment system molded into one piece, as large as 12-inches each on the top of the line model. Both variants support wireless Apple CarPlay and AndroidAuto as well as benefit from upgraded in-vehicle infotainment hardware and software. It’s paired with Arkamys SoundStage audio for a premium sound experience with enhanced bass, sound quality and 3D surround sound effects. In addition,
Territory Hybrid now has FordPass Connect that lets users connect their mobile phones to manage customer connectivity settings, command & control, and vehicle health alerts.
Safety at the forefront
Safety remains at the forefront. Both variants come standard with electronic stability control, traction control, hill launch assist, hill descent control, rear parking sensors, and as much as six airbags. There’s also an enhanced 360-degree camera system with split-view function.
Even more advanced features are available for the Titanium X, including adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane keeping aid, blind spot information system, and rear cross-traffic alert. Additional driver-assist technologies such as autonomous emergency braking, forward collision warning, and lane departure warning and lane centering control are also standard for this variant.
