The Department of Health–Metro Manila Center for Health Development (DOH-MMCHD) on Monday, August 11, turned over 50 family hygiene kits and an ambulance to the City of Manila to support community health and sanitation needs.
Each hygiene kit contains essential items, including four packs of sanitary napkins, two tubes of toothpaste, five sachets of shampoo with conditioner, three bars of bath soap, three bars of laundry detergent, ten face masks, three adult toothbrushes, two children’s toothbrushes, one dipper, one bath towel, five hand towels, one malong, ten men’s undergarments, ten women’s undergarments, a plastic comb, nail cutter, chamber pot with cover, and a utility pail.
Alongside the hygiene kits, DOH-MMCHD also handed over a new ambulance to the city.
The ambulance, provided under the Health Facilities Enhancement Program (HFEP), is fully equipped with oxygen tanks, a stretcher, and first-aid kits to ensure readiness during emergencies. It will also be integrated into the local Health Care Provider Network (HCPN) to facilitate faster patient referrals to higher-level facilities.
City officials said the collaboration between the local government and the DOH underscores their strong commitment to strengthening public health services under the city’s 8-Point Action Agenda, aimed at ensuring that every community has access to well-equipped emergency response and quality health care.
Meanwhile, the city health officer said the sanitation support comes at a crucial time as the number of leptospirosis cases in Manila has risen to 87, as of August 11.
The city government continues to urge the public to remain vigilant, maintain a clean environment, and seek medical attention immediately if any symptoms occur.
