Cebu Pacific adds flights to four key destinations as travel demand surges
Low-cost carrier Cebu Pacific is banking on the rising travel demand to further boost its international network with additional flights to four key destinations abroad.
In a statement, the Gokongwei-led airline said it will expand flight frequency to the cities of Bangkok, Da Nang, Melbourne, and Sapporo in time for the holiday rush.
“As travel demand continues to rise, these expanded services allow us to better connect Filipinos to the rest of the world and welcome more visitors to the Philippines,” said Cebu Pacific President and Chief Commercial Officer Xander Lao.
Beginning Oct. 28, flights between Manila and Da Nang will increase from one daily flight to ten weekly flights, with two flights scheduled on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
Cebu Pacific will increase flights between Manila and Sapporo, Japan, from three times a week to daily, starting Dec. 10, 2024, and continuing until Feb. 27, 2026.
Flights between Manila and Melbourne, Australia, will also increase to five weekly from four flights per week beginning Dec. 12.
The airline will also expand frequency out of Cebu, with flights to Bangkok (Don Mueang) increasing to four weekly flights starting Oct. 26, from the current thrice a week.
“These additional frequencies reflect Cebu Pacific’s ongoing commitment to provide more accessibility, flexibility, and convenience to our valued passengers,” said Lao.
Lao said this increased connectivity will play a key role in stimulating tourism, enabling business opportunities, and strengthening economic ties in the Asia-Pacific region.
These new flights will likely expand the carrier’s passenger volume in the second half of the year, after serving 14 million travelers in the first six months of the year.
Last week, the airline posted a 153 percent hike in its net income in the first half, growing to ₱8.97 billion from ₱3.55 billion in the previous year.
During the six-month period, revenues jumped reached ₱63.33 billion, with passenger revenues of ₱44.23 billion.
Cebu Pacific operates in 37 domestic and 26 international destinations.
