Maynilad treatment plant pipeline leak causes water service interruption in Muntinlupa
Portions of four barangays in Muntinlupa have no water service on Sunday, August 10, after a pipeline leak occurred at Maynilad’s Putatan Water Treatment Plant 1.
“We are currently repairing a deep-lying pipeline leak beneath a drainage line inside our Putatan Water Treatment Plant 1. Portions of Bayanan, Poblacion, Putatan, and Tunasan in Muntinlupa are experiencing water service interruptions as a result,” Maynilad said in an advisory.
“Barring unforeseen issues, normal service is expected to resume by 10:00 p.m tonight (August 10). Mobile water tankers are delivering water to affected areas. With the help of the LGU, we continue to provide assistance to affected customers. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience and understanding,” it added.
Mayor Ruffy Biazon scored Maynilad for failing to send an advisory.
“Namahagi daw sila ng advisory sa kanilang affected customers sa pamamagitan ng SMS messages. Wala po silang advisory na pinadala sa City Government of Muntinlupa. Kahit sa kanilang social media pages ay wala din dahil sapat na daw ang advisory na SMS messages direkta sa mga customers nila (They said they distributed an advisory to their affected customers via SMS messages. They did not send any advisory to the City Government of Muntinlupa. Even on their social media pages, there is none because they said the advisory SMS messages directly to their customers are sufficient),” Biazon posted on Facebook.
“Ganunpaman, hiningian natin sila ng official na paliwanag at pinadala sa atin ang official advisory na pinadala sa mga customers nila via SMS message at yung paliwanag na pinadala sa akin na pwede daw i-share ng City Government. (However, we asked them for an official explanation and they sent us the official advisory sent to their customers via SMS message and the explanation sent to me which the City Government said could be shared),” he added.
The city government distributed water to affected families since the water service interruption started.
