The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) was among the most trusted and best performing government agencies in the country, according to a recent survey, and no less than Department of National Defense (DND) Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr. expressed satisfaction, saying the public’s confidence reflected the military’s dedication to protecting the nation and serving the people.
The AFP scored an 81 percent trust rating and 82 percent satisfaction rating based on the results of the July 2025 Tugon ng Masa (TNM) nationwide survey conducted by OCTA Research.
“I congratulate the AFP family under the leadership of the Commander in Chief, H.E. President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., for the 81 percent trust rating and 82 percent performance satisfaction it received in the latest OCTA survey,” Teodoro said in a statement Saturday, Aug. 9.
“This is no doubt a result of dedication, professionalism, genuine connection, and empathy with our people, and tunay na pagmamahal sa Inang Bayan (true love for the Motherland)! Pilipinas 'di ka pasisiil (Philippines, you shall never be oppressed)!” he added.
OCTA Research founder and president Ranjit S. Rye said the fieldwork was conducted from July 12 to 17 using face-to-face interviews with 1,200 male and female probability respondents aged 18 years old and above.
He added that the survey has a margin of error of ±3 percent at a 95 percent confidence level. Subnational estimates for the geographic areas covered in the survey have the following margins of error at a 95 percent confidence level: ±6 percent for Metro Manila, Balance Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
Meanwhile, the AFP said the independent survey manifested more than just institutional performance as it “captures the collective trust of the Filipino people.”
“Their trust affirms the organization’s commitment and reminds the members to stay vigilant, disciplined, and dedicated; whether protecting Philippine territory, helping in disasters, supporting development, or addressing new security threats like cyberattacks,” a statement from the AFP read.
The military reiterated its commitment to protect the nation and advance peace, security, and development with excellence and integrity.
