TACLOBAN CITY – Police arrested a suspected motornapper in Santa Rita, Samar on Saturday, Aug. 9, following a 911 call.
The suspect was identified as Jerry, 26, of Barangay 97 Cabalawan Ridgeview, this city.
The Tacloban police Tactical Operations Center received a 911 call about a motornapping incident in Barangay 62-A Sagkahan here at 2 a.m.
Police pursued the suspect who was caught in Sitio Candaya, Barangay San Juan, Santa Rita.
Recovered from Jerry was a white and blue motorcycle, keys, an orange and black helmet, a heat-sealed sachet of suspected shabu, a black coin purse, and a lighter.
Police Col. Noelito Getigan, Tacloban police director, said Jerry faces charges for violating Republic Act 10883, the New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016, and Section 11, Article II of RA 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Getigan commended Tacloban policemen for their swift and coordinated action.
