Operatives of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) arrested a man who turned his own house in Marikina City into a firing range.
And that 911 call, according to NCRPO director Maj. Gen. Anthony A. Aberin, helped the man regained his rational thinking, especially after a police car arrived and the cops began knocking on his door.
In fact, Aberin said the suspect did not only turn over his gun but also his License to Own and Possess Firearms (LTOPF), the Firearm Registration, and the Permit to Carry Firearms Outside of Residence (PTCFOR).
“The operation started from the call of a concerned citizen about illegal discharge of firearms and alarms and scandal. It ended with under five minutes of police response and the arrest of the suspect,” said Aberin.
The concerned resident called 911 for police assistance after hearing four successive shots from the suspect’s house.
Authorities have been warning gun owners not to fire their guns over the possibility of accidental shooting that may result in death and serious injuries.
Recovered as evidence were one caliber .45 Norinco pistol, one empty magazine, three fired cartridge cases, two metallic jacket fragments, and two lead fragments.
The suspect underwent medical examination and will be subjected to paraffin testing.
Aberin said a criminal complaint for illegal discharge of firearms and alarms and scandal is being prepared for inquest proceedings before the Marikina Prosecutor’s Office.
