Aside from Vice President Sara Duterte’s Philippine-based lawyers, another lawyer cheered for her straight from The Hague, Netherlands.

The Vice President admitted that her father, former president Rodrigo Duterte, was elated upon hearing that the SC ruled as unconstitutional the impeachment case against her.
Her father stood as one of her lawyers in the petition before the high court.
“And he was truly very happy noong na tinawagan siya ng kanyang lawyer at ibinalita sa kanya na nanalo siya sa Supreme Court case. Kasi isa siya sa mga lawyers ko doon sa Supreme Court at binalita sa kanya, sinabi niya sa kanyang lawyer na mag-relax daw siya for one day (when his lawyer called him and said he won in the Supreme Court case. Because he is one of my lawyers in the Supreme Court and when they told him that, he said he would relax for one day),” the official said during a recent interview in Davao City.
Her father added that he won’t attend meetings and even his physical therapy session for a day because he wants to “enjoy the moment.”
The Supreme Court last month struck down on the impeachment case against Duterte, citing the one-year bar rule that prohibited more than one impeachment case from being filed against an impeachable officer.
The Vice President also shared that her father has always been in a “good mood” when she visits him and that she has only seen him in a “bad mood” once but did not ask him about it anymore.
Meanwhile, Duterte feigned knowledge about reports that the former president wanted lawyer Harry Roque, his former presidential spokesman, to return to the Philippines and face his human trafficking case.
“Wala akong personal na kaalaman tungkol sa ganoong kwento ni president Duterte (I don’t have personal knowledge that [former] president Duterte said that),” the official said in Bisaya.
In an earlier interview, the former president’s lead counsel Nicholas Kaufman said that the elder Duterte wants Roque to stop interfering in his case before the International Criminal Court (ICC).
The Vice President, likewise, claimed that she has no details about reports that Honeylet Avanceña, her father’s common-law wife, was barred from visiting the former president’s.
“Ang alam ko lang ay merong order galing sa ICC na ipinagbabawal — kinansel --- mayroong order na kinansel lahat ng kanyang pagbisita (All I know is that there was an order from the ICC that canceled all her visits),” she said.
“Hindi ko alam kung ano ang rason dahil hindi pinakita sa amin ‘yung papel kung ano ‘yung rason ng pagbabawal ng pagbisita ni Ms. Honeylet Avanceña (I don’t know what the reason is because I didn’t see the paper explaining why Ms. Honeylet Avanceña cannot visit anymore),” she added.
