Village chair in Samar nabbed for murder of 2 soldiers

TACLOBAN CITY – A barangay chairman in Motiong, Samar was arrested after hiding for nine years for the murder of two soldiers in 2016.
The suspect was identified as Antonio Gabane, 64, chairman of Barangay Saraw.
Gabane was apprehended on warrants for two counts of murder and two counts of frustrated murder dated Nov. 16, 2016.
The suspect was allegedly involved in a shooting incident in Paranas, Samar where two soldiers were killed.
His identity was confirmed when he ran for office and after a series of counterintelligence efforts.
The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) served the warrants on Aug. 3.
