The Valenzuela City government, in partnership with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) Corporation, has intensified the cleanup and inspection of waterways to prevent flooding and keep communities safe.
Personnel from the local government, MMDA, and NLEX cleared the Veinte Reales Creek and T. Santiago Creek in Barangay Lingunan, as well as the Tugatog-Caingin Creek in Meycauayan, Bulacan, of garbage and silt that were blocking the water flow.
The operations also covered L. San Diego Street in Barangay Canumay West and parts of Caingin in Meycauayan.
Meanwhile, the City Engineering Office and the Office of the Building Official inspected the demolition of illegal structures along Jasmine Street in Barangay Punturin and G. Marcelo Street in Barangay Maysan to ensure the safety of nearby residents.
The city’s “Operation Linis Ganda” was also conducted in Dulong Tangke, where various City Hall departments joined forces to clean and improve the surroundings.
As part of its flood control program, the city government and NLEX Corporation inspected the Mapulang Lupa Creek, including sections upstream and downstream of the expressway, to identify and remove potential blockages.
Residents are urged to dispose of waste properly and support community cleanup efforts.
On August 5, the city also relaunched its “Oplan Balik Linis Ganda” campaign, a citywide initiative to prevent flooding and promote public health and safety during the rainy season.
