Senator Camille Villar on Thursday lauded the courage and dedication of the Bureau of Fire Protection – National Capital Region (BFP-NCR) personnel, and urged them to continue with their vital mission of saving lives and protecting communities.
Speaking at the BFP-NCR’s 34th Founding Anniversary celebration, Villar praised the firefighters for their unwavering service, often in the face of grave danger. She likened their role to “the flame of compassion, the light of service, and a pillar of safety” for every Filipino.
“This celebration is not just about looking back,” Villar told the assembled firefighters. “It is also about looking forward — a call to continue what you have started: to be the fire of compassion, the light of service, and the pillar of safety for every Filipino.”
Highlighting the risks inherent in firefighting, Villar acknowledged that BFP members are more than just fire responders — they are protectors of life, first responders during calamities, and bearers of hope in times of danger.
“Your presence in every barangay, in every city, and in every home you help save is proof that the BFP is a living symbol of compassion and bravery,” she said.

With this year’s anniversary theme, “Apoy ng Serbisyong Kapital”, Villar congratulated the BFP-NCR on its milestone and commended awardees recognized for exemplary service. She expressed admiration for the firefighters’ steadfast commitment, even at the risk of their own lives.
“As you mark 34 years of dedicated service, I encourage you to keep the fire burning — to serve with fervor and to save lives with the same passion that has always defined the BFP,” Villar said.
