The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) has finally announced its much-awaited index recomposition where DigiPlus Interactive Corp. will replace Bloomberry Resorts Corp. in the benchmark PSEi’s basket of 30 stocks starting Aug. 18, 2025.

The announcement puts an end to speculation on whether DigiPlus will still be part of the new PSEi basket since it earned its place based on the set criteria; its share had since floundered—market capitalization is one of the criteria—amid moves to impose stricter regulations on the online gaming industry.

"Joining the PSE Index is more than a corporate milestone for us at DigiPlus. It’s a powerful statement that homegrown Filipino companies can lead in the digital age," said DigiPlus Chairman Eusebio Tanco.

He added that, "We’ve created a new kind of digital entertainment company, one that doesn’t just catch up on trends, but pioneers platforms that resonate with real people.”

“There was some suspense but at the end of the day, the PSE just followed its own rules. I believe the confusion among market participants in the past few weeks was only because of incorrect interpretations of those rules,” said Abacus Securities Corp. Vice President and Head of Research Nicky Franco.

He noted that, “Separately, the announcement means the PSE did not implement the proposed changes to the index inclusion rules which would have seen more additions/deletions. These new rules will probably be adopted at the next review.”

Chinabank Capital Corp. Managing Director Juan Paolo Colet said, “This finally puts to rest the intense speculation on whether DigiPlus would be added to the benchmark index.

“There was a lot of talk that PLUS would not make it, but ultimately the PSE rightly decided to keep to the letter of its index rules since it was clear that PLUS met the requirements as of the last review period. The decision ensures index policy predictability and stability.”

Unicapital Securities Head of Research Wendy Estacio-Cruz said "The inclusion of PLUS in the PSEi reflects the PSE’s commitment to upholding the integrity of its benchmark index. This move demonstrates the Exchange’s adherence to data-driven evaluation and sectoral relevance."

"PLUS’s inclusion is timely and justified, especially in light of the government’s decision not to impose a total ban on online gambling but rather to enforce tighter regulations. This policy direction signals continued operational stability for legitimate industry players like PLUS.

"The company’s growing market capitalization and trading activity further validate its presence on the main board. This reinforces investor confidence in the PSE’s objective and forward-looking review process," she added.

For the PSE Dividend Yield index, new entrants are The Keepers Holdings Inc. and Puregold Price Club, both controlled by retail tycoon Lucio Co, while Figaro Culinary Group and Universal Robina Corp. (URC) exited.

The PSE MidCap index will see the entry of Asia United Bank (AUB), Bloomberry, and OceanaGold Philippines Inc., while GMA Network, Petron Corp., and DigiPlus will be removed.

National Reinsurance Corp. of the Philippines will join the Financials index, which will not have any issuer removed.

The Industrial index will welcome Concepcion Industrial Corp., Citicore Renewable Energy Corp., and Vitarich Corp., and bid goodbye to Basic Energy Corp., EEI Corp., and Max’s Group Inc.

ATN Holdings Inc. will be included in the Holding Firms index, which will not have any firm removed. The Property and Services indices will not see any changes.

The Mining & Oil index will see the inclusion of Lepanto Consolidated Mining Co. and OceanaGold, while Benguet Corp. will be leaving.
