Mayor Francis named national president of League of Cities of the Philippines
San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora was named national president of the League of Cities of the Philippines (LCP) for the years 2025 to 2028 during its 75th General Assembly held on Friday, Aug. 8, at Conrad Manila.
“As LCP national president for 2025-2028, our objective is nation-building through the sharing of best practices, the fostering of civic engagement, the cultivation of economic growth and sustainability, the strengthening of government institutions, and the promotion of national unity. All of which, we will develop together as a league," Zamora said.
"I truly believe that we can achieve these by having an atmosphere of cooperation, respect, and harmony amongst all 149 city mayors of the Republic of the Philippines," he added.
The LCP, also known as the League of Cities, is composed of all cities in the country with the following goals and duties:

- Give priority to programs designed for the total development of cities in consonance with the policies, programs, and projects of the national government;
- Serve as a forum for crystallizing and expressing ideas, seeking the necessary assistance of the national government, and providing the private sector avenues for cooperation in the promotion of the welfare of the cities; and
- Exercise such other powers and perform such other duties and functions as the league may prescribe for the welfare of the cities.
Aside from being the LCP's national president, Zamora was also re-elected as the president of the Metro Manila Council (MMC) on Aug. 1.
“As president of the MMC—the policy-making body of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA)—I reaffirm my commitment to work collaboratively with all stakeholders in advancing the general welfare and improving the quality of life of the people of Metro Manila. Together, we will continue to address pressing concerns such as traffic congestion, flooding, solid waste management, peace and order, and the urgent need for well-planned and sustainable urban development," he explained.
