10-wheeler truck loaded with sand crashes into garden in Manila, 1 hurt

Heavy traffic greeted motorists in Manila after a truck loaded with sand crashed into a hidden garden along Padre Burgos Street in front of Liwasang Bonifacio in Manila on Friday, Aug. 8.

According to the Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau (MTPB), the truck that came from Session Bridge hit the hidden garden when its brake malfunctioned. The hidden garden is a part of the road being used to separate the flow of traffic from Quiapo and Sta. Cruz.

Authorities said the truck driver was pinned inside the wreckage of his vehicle for almost half an hour before being extracted and brought to the hospital at around 8:30 a.m.

The accident caused heavy traffic in the area due to the truck's wreckage and the scattered sand on the road.

An investigation is still ongoing regarding the incident.
