In an interview with the Firstpost in New Delhi, Marcos made it clear that he never refused to comment on Duterte's impeachment, reiterating that his role does not go beyond being a mere observer.
"I have not refused to comment on the impeachment process. I've just said – I've made it very clear that the Executive, the President, has very little role to play in the process," he said.
"So we don't – we are, of course, very interested parties, very interested observers, but it doesn't go beyond that," he added.
During the mid-term elections in May, "the political heat, the political noise, the political rhetoric, of course, rose accordingly."
But when the polls ended, the political heat and noise had been toned down, he said, stressing that "peace once again reigns" in the country.
'There always is some kind of threat'
Marcos was asked whether he thinks the Vice President is capable of getting him killed, citing the death threat she publicly made last year.
Marcos said: I don't know. He, however, said that his position always comes with some kind of threats, and he takes them seriously.
"I don't know. You know, but I'm really not in a position to say what that's about. But you have to – you have to be careful. But then, you know, in my position, there always is some kind of threat. And we take them all very seriously," he said.
