ILOILO CITY – Another online ticketing system has been launched for tourists going in and out of world-famous Boracay Island.
Known as LezzGo Boracay, it is a port system developed by Topline Hi Tech for seamless travel to and from the country’s most famous beach destination in Malay town, Aklan province.
It is a joint partnership with the Department of Tourism-6 (Western Visayas), the provincial government of Aklan, and the municipality of Malay.
“This aligns with our commitment to elevate tourist experience in Boracay Island while ensuring sustainable and technology-driven solutions,” the DOT-6 said in a statement.
“Padayon natong panamion ro industriya it turismo sa Aklan! (Let’s continue improving the tourism industry in Aklan),” added Gov. Jose Enrique "Joen" Miraflores during the Aug. 5 launching.
LezzGo Boracay combines payment for terminal and environmental fees and boat fares.
It also enables tourists to pre-book their trips, pay online, and use the QR code for swift boarding at Caticlan Jetty Port in mainland Malay town and Cagban Jetty Port in Boracay Island.
Aside from Lezzgo Boracay, the Boracay iPass was also launched late last year.
Both online ticketing systems were implemented as solutions to the old system of Boracay tourists lining up to different windows to pay for separate fees, which was time-consuming and inconvenient.
For visitors who still want to pay the old way, there are still on-site payment booths.
Also present during the launching were DOT Assistant Secretary Judilyn S. Quiachon, DOT-6 Assistant Regional Director Phoebe Zelie C. Areño, Malay Mayor Frolibar Bautista, Malay Vice Mayor Niño Cawaling, and Topline President and CEO Eugene Erik Lapasaran Lim.
